Hi Robin. Our team tries to ensure all lights are turned off in vacant apartments when they are not being shown, however, everyone forgets at times. Further, utilities for vacant apartments are not billed to the residents. Bainbridge pays the portion of utilities for all vacant apartments and common areas.

I completely agree that there is much energy waste at the Wellington because of the utility billing policy. I've also noticed that the lights remain on in many vacant apartments. Not only is that wasteful, but in the end we all end up paying for that and that's not entirely fair.

Our utility billing system promotes conservation by reminding residents that utilities are controlable expenses. While the system is not the same as an individually metered program it is the most fair way that utilities can be billed in a community like The Wellington

Please see comment under article on cutting living expenses. I strongly believe that the Wellington's utility billing policy based on allocation rather than usage leads to significant energy waste by residents. How does this policy agree with the Wellington's desire to "Go Green"?
