Be Thai or Be Square!

Thai food has to be one of my favorite types of food to get from a restaurant. First it’s very tasty and second because I cannot make it. Trust me if I could make my own Thai food I’d rather do that… but for now I usually head out to Thai Square Restaurant for some “Good Eats.”
If you haven’t tried Thai before that’s okay it does seem “exotic” and maybe you won’t like it…but I know you will. For starters go easy…go with what you feel comfortable with, most Thai restaurants like Thai Square Restaurant have descriptions under the names of dishes.
My personal favorite meal at any Thai restaurant (especially Thai Square Restaurant) is the Tom Kha Kai (coconut soup), Panang Curry (beef/chicken curry with mild spice) and Thai Tea! Yum!!
Thai Square Restaurant is located off of 3217 Columbia Pike, you can call 703-685-7040 for more information!

Celebrate as the French Do!

If you asked me about myself I would say that I’m a well rounded person. Why you ask? Well I’ve been lucky enough to live in Arlington and so close to D.C. The area we live in is so vast in cultures and experiences that I have the opportunities to grow as a person because of them. America is known as the melting pot and I certainly believe that’s true. Washington D.C. is proof of the pudding too. You have different embassies around every corner and others are celebrating their heritage. Personally I think it’s great to learn about others’ heritage. Mostly because I love knowing the random trivia! (haha)
Our next international holiday is from the French! Bastille Day, the celebration of the Storming of the Bastille! So why not celebrate as the French do and enjoy their day of Independence? Events will be around all over the upcoming weekend and next week. Personally I like to keep it low-key with friends and celebrate what the French best are known for! Their food!
This year I’ll be visiting Fontaine Caffe and Creperie off of 119 S. Royal St. I cannot wait to taste the celebration. There will be crepes, salads and other French favorites! I cannot wait to enjoy a warm hearty crepe and a dessert crepe afterward. What will you being doing on Bastille Day?

Eat Dama!

Have you ventured out and tried Ethiopian food in Arlington? You need to eat at Dama, the best Ethiopian restaurant in the DC area! The veggie combo is great to feed 2-3 people for $15 dollars. Other great dishes to try are the shiro wat and vegan cakes are delicious too.
You need to visit the Dama Pastry Store next door. The Pastry Chef at Dama, Alamaz Dama, worked in the White House during President Clinton’s administration. Talk about a Chef who knows what she is doing! The bakery store next door has 1-3 vegan cakes and even vegan cookies. Yummy! Have you been to Dama?
Here’s the address to the Dama Restaurant:
1503 Columbia Pike
Arlington, VA 22204
